Description

—Hey, Dezy... Or should I say Dizzle Dazzle? Heh, gets you every time! Welcome back to Ponyville! I just had to go out and meet you right here when I heard you'll be arriving tonight. Come on, let's get to the library. Twilight has everything ready for you to stay the night in there.

My great friend, :icondezy-x29:, is back! And not just back, but back with such a wonderful picture of my pony self. If the return of one of your closest friends is not cutting it for you, said return with artwork to commemorate it should.

And in case you might be wondering, Dizzle Dazzle, from the quote attributed to Starbright here, is the name of her pony self. She's one cute pegasus. Don't mix her up with Scootaloo.

So far, I believe that this is the single most precise depiction of Starbright in existence. His body shape is not quite typical: it's neither the default look many Ponyville stallions have, nor the massive front-heavy builds Blueblood, Fancy Pants and Shining Armor share. And not the titanic Big Mac one, either. It's more lean, thinner, but at the same time not mare-like at all, made evident by the skeleton structure. And it's depicted here darn near perfectly. It reminds me of medieval depictions of unicorns, somehow. It feels quite graceful to me.

And I have to say, that look, that smile, the general emotion expressed by the entire pose? Yes, that's very much me. I have to commend Dezy on using the nearly unparallelled expressiveness ponies have. His emotion feels clear, yet also not overstated, which is definitely more like me. Thank you, Dez.

I really like what Dezy did with the hair here, both with the mane and with the tail. All the various strands in the mane look a bit messy, yet in that fashionable, non-excessive way. Plus, their curve and fall feel natural. Bonus points for making his tail arch a bit like Twilight's tends to. Also, I really like the layering of cyan and blue you did there.

The foreshortened, properly angled horn version does feel good here. The angle seems to correspond to that of his head and face well, which is crucial for unicorn horns to look correct. Nice one there.

And it's a fine background here, too. It's present, yet does not draw attention away from Starbright; it is indeed functioning like a background is supposed to function. The grass there is sketchy, but looking at the pony, it shouldn't be anything more. The stars, with the white-cyan combination on a blue sky, echo his colours in a fun way, and that misty effect around the moon is quite nice (and quite big, too! Thank goodness we now know it isn't causing terrible tidal waves on the other side of the Equestrian globe... or is it?). Oh, and that moon smile is a cute stylization element. Dezy also knows of another element there... but I digress. I also have to say that I really like the font she wrote his name in. It looks great.

It's indeed a job well done, Dezy. Thank you so much, my friend!

I do not claim to have made this picture in any way. In fact, this here is a highly pleasant surprise for me.

Huh... Starbright DOES kind of resemble Shining Armor...

...I'm tempted to make a Friendship is Witchcraft joke, but I get the feeling that you're probably just as disgusted with that particular episode of theirs as I am (seriously, guys, even if you keep saying that "we're not related, so it's not creepy," IT'S STILL FREAKING CREEPY).
